~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook/Outlook 15 Profiles Outlook 2016 for Mac caches your mail items in a profile in your home folder at the following location: Additionally, using a mail identity or profile that is located on an external hard disk or on a network is not supported in either version of Outlook for Mac. This is a real shame since it has a great layout (I miss Entourage!) and has a nice, easy-to-navigate GUI.We do not recommend that you change the default location of your Profile folder for Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac, or your Identity folder for Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 to an external hard disk or to a network. The type on the calendar is also small and not scalable, and events will not match colors selected in Apple Calendar even if the workaround is used. There is a workaround but it involves publishing your iCloud Calendar on the iCloud website as "Public" and then subscribing to it on the MS 365 website portal - which raises security issues.

The calendar is very limited in capabilities, it won't directly interface with Apple Calendar due to an inability to read the Apple format. Apple mailbox folders must be subscribed to within a special not-easy-to-find window or it will appear as if your folders aren't being synchronized (the only negative when it comes to the interface). It also has an extraordinarily poor spam filter (although I didn't bother trying to find a solution to this, as Spark and Edison do a pretty good job on their own). HTML doesn't always display correctly and trying to set this as displayable in settings doesn't always work. This app may be fine if, for some strange reason, you are a Mac user you live an an exclusive Microsoft-obsessed universe.įor the rest of us: save your time, money and energy and just forget it.įalls short of being a worthwhile competitor to Apple Mail, Spark, and Edison. Is Microsoft unaware of the joys of a user-defined drop-down list? (Tech support has identified this as a 'bug'.)ĥ) Adding Tags in To Do events has to be done individually, manually, to each event with a complicated #hashtag workaround.

(Tech support has identified this as a 'bug'.)Ģ) The app doesn't sync with iCloud properly and all emails sent outside Outlook don't show up in the Sent folder. (Spoiler: it is, but only with a very limited range of default folders.)Īfter two weeks' use, the biggest, and as yet unsurmountable, problems with this app are:ġ) You can't auto-address emails in the 'To' field, despite all the relevant data being listed in People, aka Contacts. It looks pretty and arrives with all sorts of claims as to startling improvements, such as a customisable Toolbar. I really wanted to like 'New' outlook for Mac.
